Tottenham Hotspur sent out a message to the whole of the Premier League with their 4-0 rout of Manchester City at the weekend.

On Saturday, Spurs went to the home of the four-in-a-row Premier League champions on the back of a shock 2-1 loss to Ipswich Town and missing their two first-choice centre-backs.

Despite Man City being favourites on paper, Tottenham opened the scoring after just 13 minutes and went on to blow their opponents away.

Tottenham’s performance and result was highly praised by pundits, with Gary Neville hailing Spurs duo Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison.

Now, former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has claimed that three Spurs players would make it into the Man City team.

Tim Sherwood says Tottenham trio Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and James Maddison could play for Manchester City

Sherwood, speaking on Optus Sport, said Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and Maddison are all good enough to play for Man City.

“He (Kulusevski) must be one of the fittest players in the squad,” he said.

“That boy could play for Man City, and so could Son, and that says a lot, probably Maddison could get in their squad as well, you don’t say that about many teams!”

Gary Neville also claimed that Kulusevski could play for Real Madrid.

How Tottenham v Man City unfolded

Maddison opened the scoring at the Etihad Stadium on 13 minutes following a wonderful delivery from Kulusevski.

The England international then added a second seven minutes later, dinking the ball over Ederson after good interplay with Son.

Tottenham went on to wrap up all three points in the 53rd minute when Dominic Solanke teed up Pedro Porro to curl home a powerful effort past the Man City stopper.

Finally, three minutes into stoppage time, Brennan Johnson ghosted in at the back post to tap home Timo Werner’s cross for a wonderful win at the home of the champions.

It’s clear what Ange Postecoglou is trying to do at Tottenham and, though there will be ups and downs, Spurs could become consistently fearsome in a few years.
