Tottenham’s Champions League campaign continues in midweek with an away fixture against Bodo/Glimt. There is positive news regarding the fitness of Ben Davies ahead of the European tie, too.

On Tuesday night, Tottenham will play in Norway on an artificial pitch against Bodo/Glimt.

Spurs kickstarted the group phase of this season’s Champions League with a 1-0 home win over Villarreal. After a two-year absence from Europe’s top club competition, the North London club will be desperate to prove they can rub shoulders with the elite.

Spurs have eight group fixtures in the Champions League, which they commenced by beating Villarreal, and need to try to capitalise on their home matches. In terms of difficult away trips, they travel to Bodo/Glimt, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Tottenham boost as Ben Davies is available

Spurs boss Thomas Frank has confirmed that Ben Davies, 32, has travelled and is available to play against Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday evening.

Frank said via Tottenham’s official website: “Ben Davies is available and has travelled with the team, so that is positive.”

It is a significant boost to hear Davies is ready for action, especially because the fixtures are coming at such a frequent rate.

The experienced defender, who can play centre-half or left-back, has made zero appearances so far this season. He was an unused substitute under Frank to begin with, while he’s recently been sidelined with a knee problem.

With 358 Spurs appearances in his career, Davies is an excellent option to welcome back for a big European away day.

Even though Spurs centre-halves Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are brilliant together, it is unrealistic to start them every single game. It is on these awkward trips in Europe where relying on someone like Davies feels like a bit of a no-brainer.

Tottenham are dark horses in Champions League

Frank’s current side are miles away from the Spurs team that reached the Champions League final in 2019, but that doesn’t mean they can’t go deep in this season’s competition. In fact, they may be suited to achieving big things in Europe.

It is intriguing that some of their best performances so far this campaign have come against Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, where they’ve had the opportunity to sit in and hit them with quality on the counter-attack.

As long as Spurs safely navigate their way through the group phase, they could be a serious threat to the biggest teams in the knockouts.
