Daniel Levy left Spurs this month after 25 years at the club, and one of his last acts at the helm was hiring Thomas Frank.

It already felt like a moment of change at Spurs this summer, but the announcement of Daniel Levy’s resignation proved that fact beyond all doubt.

Levy was a controversial character in the Spurs fanbase, approval fluctuating from season to season. But his tenure was crowned with a Europa League trophy, and many at the club only wish him well.

For example, captain Cristian Romero urged gratitude towards the former chairman for the work he has done at the club.

Thomas Frank has sent his own message during Wednesday night’s Champions League action.

Frank wanted to acknowledge Levy’s departure. After 25 years, he deserves appreciation for his efforts.

As The Athletic reports, Levy was mentioned in the matchday programme: “Thomas Frank wrote about his “incredible job” at Spurs, saying that he was “extremely grateful to Daniel” for appointing him in June.

“Vinai Venkatesham, the CEO, had a long message of his own about recent changes, attributing the club’s progress to “Daniel’s vision, passion and commitment”, and writing that his “legacy is really clear for everyone to see”.”

Spurs’ investment in players has gone up significantly in recent seasons, and Levy’s miserly reputation has faded in the minds of some fans.

But he won’t be sticking around for the full redemption arc.

Thomas Frank has arrived at the perfect time

The German boss has joined the club in a moment where there is so much opportunity to mould the club in his image. The new executives will look at him as the centre-point of this project, and hopefully, act on his ideas.

Not to mention, the money seems to be there now. The past three seasons have seen Spurs pursue high-end talent. Xavi Simons is the shining example.

Add to that the youth in the squad, especially teenagers like Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, and you have a recipe for a project that can be competing at the top very soon.

No disrespect to Levy, but his departure is just more of the change Spurs fans have been relishing in recent months.
