Radu Dragusin may be a forgotten man at Tottenham because he’s been out of action since the New Year with a serious injury. However, there has been some more positive news regarding his return to fitness.
Tottenham have started the new season with an impressive defensive record, keeping five clean sheets in eight appearances across all competitions.
Spurs still have Radu Dragusin, 23, to add into the mix of their talented group of centre-backs.
The aggressive defender, who cost Spurs around £25m (BBC), has watched from the stands for the majority of 2025 so far. He suffered an ACL injury in the Europa League victory against Elfsborg on 30 January last season.
Dragusin, who earned praise from Ange Postecoglou last term, will need to win over new Spurs boss Thomas Frank when he’s ready to play again. It sounds like it may not be too long to wait as well.

Thomas Frank update on Radu Dragusin
It was reported in mid-September that Dragusin was doing individual work with a fitness coach following his return to the training pitch.
Frank has now confirmed that the Romania international is moving in the right direction.
On Friday, the Spurs head coach confirmed in his press conference that Dragusin is progressing well with his rehabilitation. Apparently, the defender could be back involved in “a few weeks” as he continues work on the grass.
Frank said via the Spurs official website: “He’s progressing well, he’s been on the grass for three weeks and is progressing as well as it should. We all know coming back from an ACL is a long one, he’s on track, but it will be a few weeks before he’s able to be involved.”
When fit, Dragusin will add some more physicality and steel to the defensive options. We’re anticipating he may be a better fit under Frank than his predecessor, too.

Tottenham’s cover for Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero
When fit, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are the outstanding centre-half partnership at the club. It is showing in the opening stages of this season just how much they can transform the team’s performances and results.
Jamie O’Hara rates Van de Ven and Romero as the best defensive duo around right now.
It is vital that Spurs have quality options in reserve because of their respective injury record and congested fixture schedule.
The return of Dragusin, even if it takes a few more weeks, will be great for the squad. He can provide cover in the heart of defence along with Kevin Danso.
