Teddy Sheringham has claimed that he is against the potential appointment of Adi Hutter as interim manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

Igor Tudor could be sacked by Tottenham this week after failing to win any of his five Premier League matches in charge of the North London club.

Spurs are now lining up potential replacements for the Croatian manager, and Hutter has emerged as a contender for the job.

However, Sherrigham is strongly against the arrival of the Austrian head coach and has been speaking about what Spurs need to do.

Teddy Sheringham does not want Adi Hutter at Tottenham

Teddy Sheringham has admitted that he is very worried about Tottenham potentially appointing Adi Hutter.

The former Spurs striker insists that the club need a coach who understands the Premier League and someone who knows the squad.

Hutter has never managed in the Premier League previously and would clearly be a major gamble at this stage of the season.

Speaking about the situation, Sheringham said: “I’m hearing that they’re having talks with another foreign guy who used to manage Monaco. He’s from Austria.

“What does this guy know about the Premier League? What does this guy know about the Premier League players, about the stadiums, about the pitches, about the players that he’s got at his disposal?

“What the hell is going on at Tottenham Hotspur? Why are they looking down the foreign route that knows nothing about the football club or the league that he’s going to be playing in?

“Please do not make this mistake again. I don’t know who’s making these decisions to go and speak to these people, but it’s wrong. Have a look at what’s going on and what’s needed.

Tottenham must appoint a manager who understands the squad

One of Tudor’s biggest downfalls was his constant experimenting with players’ positions, using them in unusual roles.

Sheringham claims the next manager needs to be someone who knows the squad well and just uses them in their best positions.

“All it needs is a bit of love towards the players, a little bit of confidence boost because we have got very, very good players at the football club,” added the Spurs legend.

“Put them in their rightful positions, and a manager who knows what their rightful positions are and who gels with each other. Work it out. He needs to go in now.”

The obvious fit seems to be Ryan Mason; however, he is not open to returning to Tottenham, as he does not want to further damage his reputation.
