Roy Keane has delivered his verdict on the state of play at Tottenham after they sacked Thomas Frank.

Tottenham lost 2-1 to Newcastle at home in the Premier League, and that saw the board parting ways with the manager the following morning.

Roberto De Zerbi has been linked with the Spurs job as the search ramps up for a new manager, whether it is a permanent or an interim one.

Roy Keane believes Thomas Frank losing his job is not good

Keane admits that the initial reaction will be from a footballing point of view, but he is not happy about another manager losing his job.

The Manchester United legend believes that Frank was still new to the club, and unfortunately, that is the business he is in.

In his opinion, there are certain clubs that do not give you adequate time needed to get out of a sticky patch.

Keane said on The Overlap: “The initial reaction should be whatever, from a football point of view.

“Another manager loses his job like that.

“He’s still new to the club. I know we’ll analyse it but it’s not good.

“It’s not good for these managers. I know. Again, I go back to you’re shaking hands with the devil. You’re going to certain clubs, you know, if you’re going through a sticky patch, you just know they won’t stick with you.

“Imagine going into a job, you know, any sort of difficult spell you’re going to have – you’re gone.”

Where do Tottenham go from here?

Whether or not Keane thinks he had enough time to turn things at Tottenham around is a separate issue.

The fact is that Spurs sacked Frank and are now looking for a new manager.

Their plan is to get the best man possible for the job, but they will know that there will be more managers available come the end of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to even enter talks before the World Cup, while De Zerbi might want to wait until the end of the season to gauge his options.

Robbie Keane is also liked by Tottenham, but as he is already employed, he is not expected to accept the job on an interim basis.
