All is not well at Tottenham Hotspur in wake of another poor result that has increased the pressure on both Ange Postecoglou and the Spurs board.

Daniel Levy is coming under criticism once again as Postecoglou becomes the latest Spurs manager to struggle under the 62-year-old’s stewardship.

Not only is Levy under pressure from supporters, but Jamie Carragher thinks the Spurs chairman must step down as he has proven he can’t take the North London club any further.

Tottenham cult hero Ramon Vega has now delivered his verdict on the speculation around Postecoglou’s future as Spurs manager and prospect of sacking him.

Ramon Vega says sacking Ange Postecoglou ‘may not effectively address’ Tottenham problems

Vega, taking to X, has stressed that sacking Postecoglou isn’t a sure-fire way to address the challenges at Spurs, particularly since other top managers have tried and failed before him.

The Swiss also said “a deeper, more fundamental solution is necessary”, before acknowledging that Levy is “unfortunately” unlikely to step down until he finds a buyer for the club.

Vega concluded by suggesting that “it’s just a matter of time” before Postecoglou gets sacked, saying a managerial dismissal is “the only guarantee in football”.

When a fan asked Vega what he thought about Tottenham having had 14 managers in 23 years – the amount of time Levy has been chairman – he summed it up in one word: “Crazy”.

Tottenham in need of change

The thing about football is that, while it is now a multi-billion pound industry, the fundamentals of the game are based around giving fans the opportunity to hope and dream.

Levy has done a great job with the finances, infrastructure and status of Tottenham, turning them into an incredibly profitable club with an amazing stadium and training ground.

However, as Alasdair Gold recently said, this is all “window dressing” if the team is unable to have fans genuinely dreaming of glory or, at the very least, a bright future.

Tottenham have had some of the most exciting managers in world football in charge over the past few years, but they’ve found themselves as the outliers in said coaches’ careers.

For instance, Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho has won silverware at most clubs they’ve managed – except for Tottenham.

Likewise, Postecoglou has been immensely successful in Japan, Scotland and Australia – and yet Spurs remains a tough nut to crack for him with regards to turning his methods into something tangible.

With that in mind, it’s time for change at Tottenham, and an entity who has the means and willingness to take the club to the next level should come in.
