Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to take on Roma in their Europa League clash in North London on Thursday night.

Spurs are high in confidence after their incredible 4-0 win away at Premier League champions Manchester City last weekend.

Tottenham are also faring well in the Europa League, though they lost to Galatasaray in their last fixture in the competition.

Roma defender Mats Hummels spoke to his club’s media team ahead of the Spurs game as he gave his views on some of the opposition players.

He spoke about one Tottenham player who is “incredible” and “really dangerous”, admitting he’s had to “suffer a lot against him”.

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min deemed an ‘all-round great player’ by Mats Hummels

The player in question is Son Heung-min, who has made a name for himself as a legendary player for both Tottenham and South Korea.

“Son is an incredible player,” said Hummels. “I’ve had to suffer a lot against him.

“When he played for Hamburg and Leverkusen he had a habit of scoring against Dortmund and winning games against us. He did the same against Germany in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“He’s quick, intelligent, can shoot with both feet. He’s really dangerous in the box and also outside the box. An all-round great player.”

Hummels also praised Timo Werner, backing him to come good despite his current troubles on the pitch, and also said Micky Van de Ven is one of his favourite young defenders.

Son and Hummels have faced off six times over the years, with Son’s team winning three times, drawing once, and losing two games.

The Tottenham ace got the better of Hummels twice in the 2012/13 Bundesliga season whilst playing for Hamburg, scoring braces in both league fixtures.

Son then led South Korea to victory against Germany in the 2018 World Cup group stage, netting for his nation in a 2-0 win over Hummels’ country.
