Tottenham Hotspur will look to keep up the good work post-international break when they take on Roma in the Europa League.

Spurs have had their ups and downs this season, but last weekend they showed how they can destroy anyone on their day.

Tottenham, who had already thrashed Manchester United and Aston Villa, went to Manchester City ran out 4-0 winners.

Now, Ange Postecoglou’s charges will hope to bounce back in the Europa League after they lost their last match in the competition.

Speaking ahead of the game, Roma star Mats Hummels sung the praises of an “incredible” Tottenham ace who’s among his favourite young players.

Mats Hummels hails Tottenham star Micky van de Ven

The player in question is Micky van de Ven, who has been a revelation since joining Spurs from Wolfsburg last year.

Aside from being a solid defender, the Dutchman also boasts frightening pace – indeed, he’s the quickest player in the Premier League.

Hummels, speaking to the Roma media team, lauded Tottenham’s “impressive” evolution and exciting players, singling Van de Ven out for praise.

“Tottenham’s evolution is really impressive,” said Hummels. “I really like to watch their games. They play a high pressing, with a lot of pace and purpose on the pitch.

“They have some incredible individuals and one of my favourite young defenders in the world, although I think he’s injured at the moment, Micky van de Ven. He can run 40 km/h. Incredible.

“They have a spectacular team. I expect them to put us under pressure and try to get the fans involved and show that this is their ground.”

Sadly, as Hummels pointed out, Van de Ven will play no part against Roma, as he’s out with a hamstring injury.

Likewise, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are out with hamstring problems, while Cristian Romero is nursing a foot injury and Mikey Moore is sidelined with a virus.

Meanwhile, Will Lankshear is suspended after being sent off in the 3-2 loss against Galatasaray, in which he also scored.

James Maddison is among those tipped to start for Tottenham against Roma after his masterclass against Man City.

Indeed, Clive Allen said Maddison “absolutely” had his best game in a Spurs shirt on the day.
