Vuskovic is keen to leave Tottenham and has his sights set on a move to FC Barcelona in the next few years, but he does not think he will play much next season at Spurs.

Ledley King backs Luka Vuskovic to become a ‘top player’

Ledley King believes that Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic has the confidence in himself to become a ‘top player’.

Vuskovic had a great season on loan at Hamburg and was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season after impressing so much.

The former Tottenham defender is now backing him to be a huge success in his career, although it’s unclear whether that will be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking to Hayters TV, King said: “I didn’t get too many chances to watch him, but I saw the reports, and people were raving about him. He’s an exciting young player.

“He looks very confident. You know, so it’s silly for me to say that, what I look for in a player, but he looks to have that little bit of… I don’t want to call it arrogance, but that confidence in himself. And that tells me that he’s a top player.”

However, the 19-year-old looks unlikely to ever play for the North London club, although King hopes he will get the chance to impress Roberto De Zerbi in pre-season.

“I’m not sure what the situation is at the moment. But obviously every player has a chance in pre-season to impress, and you’ll see from there on who gets picked.”

Meanwhile, Lucas Bergvall also wants to leave Tottenham, which does raise concerns over the pathway to the first team for young players.

Spurs are playing a risky game, allowing De Zerbi so much control over the decisions at the club and are at risk of losing two of their best youngsters.
