Tottenham Hotspur will look to make it two wins in a row after the international break when they take on Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Spurs go into the match against the Giallorossi on the back of their incredible 4-0 Premier League win at Manchester City last Saturday.

Tottenham were defeated in their last Europa League match, losing 3-2 at Galatasaray, and will be eager to get their European campaign back on track.

The Spurs News looks at who Ange Postecoglou could name in his starting XI for the meeting against Claudio Ranieri’s side.

Tottenham team news v Roma

Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is set to be out for months after undergoing surgery on a fractured ankle he suffered in the win over Man City.

Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert (all hamstring), Cristian Romero (foot) and Mikey Moore (virus) are also unavailable through injury or illness.

Will Lankshear is suspended after being sent off in the game against Galatasaray, in which he also scored.

Son Heung-min tipped to drop out of Spurs starting XI

With Vicario now recovering from surgery, veteran goalkeeper Fraser Forster is set to start in between the sticks for Tottenham.

Spurs remain short at the back, with Van de Ven and Romero still out, so Postecoglou won’t be able to make many changes there.

Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies are likely to start at centre-back, while Destiny Udogie is likely to remain at left-back.

The one predicted change at the back would see Pedro Porro come out and Archie Gray take his place at right-back.

In midfield, Rodrigo Bentancur is currently serving a domestic ban, but he is still eligible to play in the Europa League.

He is therefore expected to come into the Tottenham starting XI, and we predict Lucas Bergvall could also come in.

The in-form James Maddison could be rewarded with another start, while Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr could be rested.

As for the Spurs front line, we predict Son Heung-min will also be rested, with Timo Werner taking the place on the left flank.

Tottenham v Roma is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off time on Thursday 28 November 2024 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
