Destiny Udogie has been speaking about what it has been like to play in this Tottenham Hotspur side as they battle away for the top four.

The Italian left-back signed for Spurs back in the summer of 2022, but this is his first season playing in the Premier League.

And he has taken to life in England like a duck to water having already become one of Ange Postecoglou’s regular starters.

But it seems he has had the help of one player, in particular, both at Hotspur Way and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What Destiny Udogie said about Heung-min Son

It has been another stunning season for Heung-min Son on the pitch having already racked a staggering 22 goal contributions in the Premier League.

The £22m South Korean has taken the armband following the departures of Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris.

And it seems Destiny Udogie has been impressed with what he has seen from the 31-year-old this season both on and off the pitch.

Speaking to BBC Sport ahead of Saturday’s game, the 21-year-old has revealed just how big of an influence Son has been to his development.

He said: “It’s a big help to us [having Son]. Obviously, he’s a top player and he’s a leader as well. When he speaks, he just says something to help you, like some suggestions on where to position ourselves. The way he plays, the way he shows his leadership… incredible.”

What’s been said about Destiny Udogie’s Spurs future

Although he is still only young, the Italian full-back is already showing the potential to be one of the Premier League’s best.

He has nailed down the starting spot under Postecoglou and has provided Spurs with two goals and three assists in the Premier League.

The last outing against Fulham saw the 21-year-old receive some criticism for his defending at times, but that’s just a reminder that he isn’t yet the finished article.

But it is apparent this is a player who Spurs are expecting to receive interest from some of Europe’s top, top clubs in the future.

The Spurs News has already been told the club are prepared for interest to arrive in the foreseeable future for their Italian defender.

Graeme Bailey said: “Udogie is going to be attracting attention as the time goes on, but big, big clubs are pretty well versed.”

“You know, I don’t see Chelsea coming in for anyone like that. But Udogie is going to be one to keep an eye on, long-term. But if Spurs get to where they’re going to that won’t be much of an issue.”

So much so that Daniel Levy has already tied him down to a new deal which sees his contractual stay through until 2030.

He is obviously a player who Spurs see as a long-term option, but they are well placed if a side is to come in for him.
