Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has been criticised by Jamie Redknapp for his defending against Fulham.
The north London club’s hopes of a top four finish were handed a blow on Saturday night in their trip to Craven Cottage.
It was a game where not many Tottenham players walked away with any credit, but Destiny Udogie was highlighted as a weak point.

Top four hopes deal blow
Having dispatched of Aston Villa just six days ago, Ange Postecoglou’s side could not have had more belief coming into this game.
But this was clearly not the same Spurs which was on display at Villa Park last week.
Spurs were torn apart by Fulham in a showing which showed a lack of energy and cohesion across the board.
Udogie has been excellent this season for Spurs, but it is fair to say the game against the Cottagers was one he will want to forget.
And speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp criticised the Italian’s defending for Fulham’s second. He said: “Now you’ve got two players there. Destiny Udogie and Brennan Johnson, now Brennan has got to go, ‘what do I do? If I’m not going to go to the ball, I then have to follow the man that’s going to do the overlap’ which is Castagne. He doesn’t do enough.
“But this bit of defending – and I’ve loved Destiny Udogie this year, magnificent – but this baffles me at how easily he gets beat here. And now you’ve got a problem because Brennan Johnson hasn’t done it [tracked the runner].”

Destiny Udogie vs Fulham
Considering the Italian has been so widely praised this season in just his first season in the Premier League, his disply against Fulham was dismal.
This was not the Udogie which Spurs fans have become accustomed to watching this term.
And his poor showing was there for all to see in his stats at the end of the game…
- 90 minutes played
- 2x dribbled past
- 52 touches
- 8x possession lost
- 2 fouls
- 4/9 ground duels won

Perhaps what is even just as frustrating as the result is Spurs now have to wait two weeks to put things right.
The Lilywhites will now have to wait until the end of the international break before they are able to provide their fans with a response.
And a response is exactly what Spurs will need, but they will be doing so against a side also with a point to prove in Luton Town.
