‘I’ll ask the coach’… Romanian pundit says he wants a word with Ange Postecoglou about Radu Dragusin

Romanian pundit and former West Ham United player Florin Raducioiu has said he wants to speak to Ange Postecoglou about Radu Dragusin.

Since landing in north London, the 22-year-old defender is yet to be handed his first start by the Australian.

And as a result, Radu Dragusin could be heading into this summer’s Euros with a severe lack of game time since moving to Spurs.

Radu Dragusin appearances

The move to join Ange Postecoglou’s side in January was a big one for the defender as he rejected the likes of Bayern Munich and Napoli in the process.

But it seems his mere eight minutes from just three appearances is not going unnoticed back in his homeland.

Dragusin left Genoa where he was a key member of the starting XI to now sitting behind Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven on the bench.

Speaking to Prima Sport, Raducioiu said he’d happily go to Hotspur Way and ask Postecoglou when the 22-year-old can expect to get an opportunity: “I don’t know what will happen, but it’s hard to believe he’ll play.,” he said.

“We might as well send one of our colleagues to a press conference if you want me to go. I’ll ask the coach, next game in London and I’ll ask him:’I’m Florin Răducioiu, not a journalist, I represent Prima Sport, with regard to my countryman, whom I hold in high esteem, when do you think our player can play, in view of the European Championship that awaits us?’ and let’s see what he says.”

Patience required

This is clearly a hot topic back in Romania with this not the first time quotes have emerged over the defenders lack of game time.

His own mother has called for patience over her son’s transition to life in a new country.

And his agent has also provided multiple interviews where he has also commented on Dragusin’s lack of game time.

But you only have to look as far as Saturday to see what Dragusin is trying to uproot from Postecolgou’s starting XI.

Van de Ven was handed the Man of the Match award by the fans and Romero scored what proved to be the deciding goal against Crystal Palace.

With the pair forming a solid partnership, it has to be said, the only way of seeing Dragusin make his starting debut could come through a potential injury.
