Tottenham kick-off their Europa League journey with a clash against Qarabag FK.

A fifth-placed finish last campaign means Ange Postecoglou is set to get his first taste of European football at Tottenham this season.

Having not had to deal with the hustle and bustle of Europe last term, the Spurs boss now faces the grueling task of juggling both domestic and European football.

Playing twice a week is a tough task for any side but it could be an even tougher one for Tottenham given their injury record last season.

This could see Postecoglou heavily rotate his squad for European games, in an aim to keep his top stars fit and firing for the Premier League.

That begs the question as to who will feature in Tottenham’s Europa League opener against Qarabag?

Radu Dragusin likely to replace the suspended Cristian Romero

Cristian Romero will miss the Europa League clash with suspension, thanks to a red card he received in Tottenham’s last European fixture against AC Milan back in 2023.

The Argentinian’s absence will most likely pave the way for Radu Dragusin to start, with the Romanian looking to stake a claim in the Spurs backline.

Despite struggling at times against Coventry, Dragusin impressed against Newcastle and he will be hoping to put down a marker against Qarabag.

Having racked up just 604 minutes of football since his North London arrival, the former Genoa man will see the Europa League as the perfect opportunity to showcase his talent to the Spurs faithful.

It would not be a surprise to see Postecoglou select a similar starting eleven to the one that scraped past Coventry in the Carabao Cup last week.

Having grabbed the vital equaliser in Tottenham’s late comeback, Djed Spence will be disappointed at the fact he was not included in the club’s Europa League squad.

The Lilywhites will also be without new signing Wilson Odobert following his injury against Coventry, with the Frenchman expected to be sidelined until late October.
