Michael Dawson backs Robbie Keane to take Tottenham job

Michael Dawson has urged Tottenham to appoint Keane permanently, given the interim job would not be enough to entice him to North London.

Reports claim that right now, Keane is unlikely to take the Tottenham job on an interim basis, so the Lilywhites would need to offer him the role permanently.

“There’s no way he’s coming in as interim. He’s not leaving a full-time job to be interim to the end of the season,” the former Spurs captain told Sky Sports.

“I can’t imagine that, leaving Ferencvaros, joint top of the league, in the knockout stages in the Europa League.

“So you think, I don’t know too many managers who would leave when you’ve got a contract there to go for an interim.

“But why not give him it on a permanent basis? They’ve tried Jose, they’ve tried Conte, they’ve tried Thomas Frank.”
