Would you take Robbie Keane at Spurs? 🤔

The North London club are currently sitting in 16th place and just five points above the bottom three, having won just two of their 17 matches.

The Lilywhites are now on the hunt to replace the 53-year-old, with an interim appointment until the end of the season the most likely route they will go down.

Robbie Keane unlikely to take Tottenham job

Robbie Keane is unlikely to take the Tottenham Hotspur job on an interim basis, according to Michael Bridge.

The Spurs legend has been doing a brilliant job in Hungary with Ferencvarosi, who are sitting top of the Nemzeti Bajnoksag I and in the Europa League knockout stages.

Michael Dawson sent a message to the Sky Sports presenter about Keane; however, he has moved to shut down those links.

When discussing the managerial situation at Tottenham, Bridge told Sky Sports News: “Michael Dawson’s just texted me saying ‘Robbie Keane’.

“I was told that he wouldn’t come as an interim. But that’s a very interesting one from Michael Dawson there.”

The former Tottenham striker would have been a fascinating appointment considering how well he is going in the Hungarian top-flight and in Europe.

Tottenham need a coach who will come in and play attacking football, whilst also giving chances to the younger players in the squad.

Michael Dawson urges Tottenham to appoint Robbie Keane permanently

Dawson has just urged Tottenham to appoint Keane permanently, given the interim job would not be enough to entice him to North London.

“There’s no way he’s coming in as interim. He’s not leaving a full-time job to be interim to the end of the season,” the former Spurs captain told Sky Sports.

“I can’t imagine that, leaving Ferencvaros, joint top of the league, in the knockout stages in the Europa League.

“So you think, I don’t know too many managers who would leave when you’ve got a contract there to go for an interim.

“But why not give him it on a permanent basis? They’ve tried Jose, they’ve tried Conte, they’ve tried Thomas Frank.”
