Tottenham Hotspur have finally got their Premier League campaign under way, having had to wait until Monday evening to do so.
Admittedly, things didn’t quite go to plan for Spurs, who spurned a great opportunity to record an emphatic opening-day win.
Tottenham dominated Leicester City in the first half of their encounter at the King Power Stadium, but couldn’t make the most their opportunities.
The Foxes ended up equalising with their first effort on target and went on to claim a share of the spoils in their first game back in the top flight.
Tottenham suffered from familiar problems in the game, such as failing to make their early dominance count and slipping up at the back.
However, this hasn’t dampened Harry Redknapp’s enthusiasm with regards to how he feels his former side will do this season.

Harry Redknapp backs Tottenham to finish fourth
Redknapp remains confident that Spurs will finish fourth this season and secure Champions League qualification.
“I do fancy them,” he said on talkSPORT (20/8/2024, 8:12am). “I fancied them last year to get top four.
“Villa this year have Champions League, so it will be more difficult for them. I think Tottenham will finish fourth this year.”
Too early to draw conclusions
Although Tottenham disappointed on Monday night, it’s definitely too early to draw negative conclusions about how they’ll do this season.
Last term, Spurs also drew their opening Premier League game (a 2-2 draw at Brentford) and went on to win their next four.
Indeed, Tottenham won eight of their opening 10 top-flight encounters, a run which included victories against Manchester United and Liverpool.
Obviously Spurs are far from the finished product, and there’s a lot of work for Ange Postecoglou and his players to carry out.
However, the foundations are in place, now it’s just a case of ironing out the flaws within the team’s play and ensuring everything clicks over the coming weeks and beyond.
The transfer window is still open, so there could yet more additions to the Tottenham ranks.
Paul O’Keefe has talked about which positions Spurs could look to strengthen in the coming days.
