Ange Postecoglou told how severe Tottenham star Pedro Porro’s ankle injury could be

Pedro Porro was forced off with an ankle injury in Tottenham Hotspur’s first game of the season against Leicester City.

Spurs’ campaign got off to a frustrating start as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Leicester in their Premier League opener.

Porro started the scoring for the visitors with an audacious headed goal before 37-year-old Jamie Vardy put the Foxes level on the hour mark.

As the away supporters poured out of the King Power Stadium, they will be scratching their heads as to how their team managed to drop two points.

The Lilywhites were far too wasteful as they were unable to capitalise on their 15 attempts and 71 per cent possession.

Frustration from the players boiled over in the second half as Guglielmo Vicario fired some stern words the way of Lucas Bergvall.

Meanwhile, Tottenham fans will also be hoping that the injury suffered by Porro is nothing major and ahead of their clash against Everton, they have been informed how severe the issue could be.

Pedro Porro’s injury severity predicted

Porro appeared to suffer a lateral ankle sprain after awkwardly twisting it against Leicester, according to injury analyst Physio Scout on X.

Fortunately, the Physio Scout claims these sprains often look worse than they actually are, but the Spaniard will need to undergo scans to determine whether he suffered any damage.

Hopefully, the defender will be cleared, but any ligament damage could mean he will be sidelined for a few weeks.

Grade one damage ranges from one to two weeks, whilst Grade two/three could be three to four weeks on the sidelines.

Ange Postecoglou will now be sweating over Porro’s fitness ahead of their clash with Everton as he prepares to undergo scans. The Physio Scout, however, predicts he will be good to feature against the Toffees.

Tottenham now have strong Porro cover in Djed Spence

Losing him for a few weeks through injury would be bitterly disappointing with Porro having made an impressive start to the season.

However, Tottenham now have great cover for him in Djed Spence with the defender having enjoyed a fruitful pre-season with the club.

A few months ago, the full-back’s career at Spurs looked to be over with the club looking to offload him.

However, Spence has since worked his way back into Postecoglou’s plans and looks to be a real option for the Australian coach.

With lots of football for the North Londoners to play this season, especially in Europe, the 24-year-old will have plenty of opportunities to get regular minutes.
