Tottenham Hotspur loaned out several players in the summer transfer window, including Luka Vuskovic and Manor Solomon.

Vuskovic has joined Hamburg for the season, while Solomon left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Villarreal.

Solomon was ready to compete for a spot in Thomas Frank’s starting XI but eventually decided to leave north London.

He is still awaiting his first goal for his club, whereas Vuskovic managed to grab his over the weekend.

Luka Vuskovic breaks finger before Hamburg opener

Vuskovic opened the scoring for Hamburg in their 2-1 win against Heidenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

He had a great opportunity to score before that but could not convert, resulting in the defender hitting the post and doing some serious damage to his finger.

“I probably broke a finger,” Vuskovic was quoted as saying by Hamburger Morgenpost after the game. “It’s an old injury; I broke my finger a few months ago. But I was so angry about missing such a great opportunity that I hit the post with my hand. It will heal, don’t worry.”

Overall, though, it was a much better day compared to the previous Saturday when Hamburg were thrashed 5-1 by Bayern Munich.

Vuskovic is viewed as a centre-half with a lot of potential, but Tottenham already have Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven on their books.

The 18-year-old needs game time at his age so that he can develop and would have struggled for minutes at Spurs this season because of Romero and Van de Ven.

Luka Vuskovic on scoring his first goal for Hamburg

Unsurprisingly, Vuskovic was much happier after he scored for Hamburg. It was a moment that made the Croatian both proud and emotional.

“I’m very proud, very emotional, and hope it wasn’t my last goal,” Vuskovic said. “I just hoped the goal wouldn’t be taken back.”

Tottenham could sign a new central defender in 2026 amid links with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Jan Paul van Hecke.

Van Hecke had an audition in front of Spurs over the weekend, embarrassing himself a little bit after scoring an own goal against them.

He is still a good defender, though, and it would not be a surprise if Tottenham made a move for him in the new year. If not, perhaps Vuskovic could become a viable option for them next season.
