Mohammed Kudus didn’t threaten Tottenham teammate with arrival but exit became inevitable

Mohammed Kudus was always guaranteed to be a starter at Tottenham Hotspur following his arrival from West Ham United.

Tottenham paid their London rivals £55m for Kudus’ signature, which is not the kind of money you spend on a bench player.

Even so, one winger who was already on Spurs’ books did not seem to be too worried about Kudus’ arrival.

In the end, though, he left the Europa League winners on another loan.

Manor Solomon wasn’t worried about Mohammed Kudus arrival

Manor Solomon spent the previous campaign on loan at Leeds United but was hoping for a chance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this term.

According to TEAMtalk, even after Spurs landed Kudus, Solomon was not thinking about another move away from north London.

The outlet claims that it was only after Thomas Frank opted against naming Solomon as a potential option to replace Son Heung-min that the 25-year-old had a change of heart.

Solomon ended up joining Villarreal on deadline day, while Spurs brought in another attacker after signing Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain.

Kolo Muani has already been described as a “quality” footballer by Frank and will be aiming to help his new side finish in the top four as he leads the attack alongside Kudus.

Manor Solomon impressed in Championship last season

Despite a very good campaign while out on loan at Leeds last term, Solomon could not convince Frank.

During his time at Elland Road, the Israel international made 39 Championship appearances and helped Daniel Farke’s side to win promotion back to the Premier League.

Farke would have surely loved to have Solomon back at Elland Road, but his initial desire to remain in north London would have made a deal difficult for any interested party.

As for Farke’s Spurs counterpart Frank, he has good wide options and will cope without Solomon. As well as Kudus, the former Brentford boss has Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, Xavi Simons, Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert, who can all be called upon.
