Tottenham Hotspur have blown hot and cold for most of the season, but the mood at N17 has gone particularly sour in recent weeks.

After the highs of the 4-0 thrashing of Manchester City, Spurs have been brought back to earth with a four-match winless run and two defeats in their last two games.

The Premier League losses to Bournemouth and Chelsea have led to criticism of both Ange Postecoglou and of the Tottenham board.

Football.london’s Spurs expert Alasdair Gold has now shared what he’s been hearing about the Spurs players’ working relationship with Postecoglou.

Alasdair Gold says Tottenham players love playing for Ange Postecoglou

Gold, speaking on his YouTube channel, says the Tottenham squad is still firmly behind Postecoglou, as they adore his style of play and methods.

“I still feel that the players, and I think this is from what I’m hearing as well, that the players are still really behind Postecoglou’s way,” said Gold.

“It’s a way of playing that players will love, it is an attacking style of football, it’s a style of football that, as we said before, is kind of what they grew up loving about the game.

“He has kind of his way with the players, and the key little moments that he speaks to them that, I think, really keeps them onside.

“And that seems to wear, which is important for him.”

Tottenham board and players firmly behind Postecoglou

Despite so much speculation doing the rounds, it looks as though it’s still business as usual for both the Tottenham players and the Spurs board.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey told The Spurs News earlier this month that Tottenham’s board were not thinking of parting company with Postecoglou.

The Evening Standard also corroborated this on Monday, saying Spurs ‘remain committed to a long-term project under Postecoglou.’

Now Gold has said the players are all firmly behind Postecoglou, and a few days ago, Cristian Romero issued a strong defence of his manager.

“He’s a great coach,” he told Telemundo. “We saw it in the first season. In this second one we’ve suffered a lot of injuries.

“Players are the first ones to be criticised, then if we lose 10 games, the staff can be changed, but nobody talks about what is actually happening.

“We are very happy with this staff, me and my colleagues. We love how they work and the football they try to play. We’ll try to move on quickly.”
