Tottenham’s stance on Ange Postecoglou future amid calls for him to be sacked

Tottenham Hotspur delivered one of their worst performances of the season on Thursday night as they went down 1-0 at Bournemouth.

The Cherries, who have beaten Manchester City and Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium this term, added Spurs to their list thanks to Dean Huijsen’s 17th-minute goal.

Admittedly, it could have been worse for Tottenham as Evanilson saw a second-half goal ruled out for offside, while a late penalty call for the hosts was waved away.

The travelling Spurs fans made their feelings known to Ange Postecoglou at full time, while on social media, some supporters are calling for him to be sacked.

Now, transfer insider Graeme Bailey has revealed what Tottenham’s stance is amid increasing speculation over Postecoglou’s future.

Tottenham set to keep the faith in Ange Postecoglou

Bailey, speaking to The Spurs News, stressed that Tottenham are looking to stick, rather than twist, at this moment in time.

While the Spurs board is “clearly” not happy with how things are going, Daniel Levy and co still think they have the right manager in Postecoglou.

“Spurs are not going to panic,” said Bailey.

“Clearly they are not happy with how things have gone but neither is Ange or the players, they think they have the right manager and that hasn’t changed due to a poor run of form.

“Obviously if they end the season in 10th, then clearly they won’t be happy and conversations will be had, but they still have huge confidence in the squad – especially when fully fit.”

Tottenham need to loosen purse strings in January transfer window

And so, it doesn’t look like Postecoglou will be departing the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium any time soon.

Admittedly, it’s not nice to see displays such as that against Bournemouth, which was by no means the only dismal losing performance against a mid-table side this season.

Nonetheless, it’s not like Spurs are free-falling towards the bottom three. They are capable of winning on their day, and against strong teams too.

Let’s hope Tottenham give Postecoglou the funds he needs to bring in adequate strength in depth in January, because Thursday’s display is not the kind of thing fans can put up with every other week.
