Tottenham Hotspur are currently in a difficult situation as on-the-pitch issues have led to criticism of both Ange Postecoglou and the Spurs board.
Postecoglou has delivered some wonderful moments at Tottenham since taking the reins last season, but a notorious lack of consistency is causing concern among fans.
Tottenham have shown they can hammer the biggest teams in the Premier League on their day, but mistakes at the back are causing them to lose far too many games.
Spurs’ poor form has led to speculation about Postecoglou’s future, which in turn has given way to criticism of Daniel Levy and his running of the club.
Now, former Tottenham winger Andros Townsend has had his say on the club under Postecoglou, as well as making a point involving Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp.

Andros Townsend urges Tottenham to stick with Ange Postecoglou
Townsend, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club, questioned why Postecoglou is being pressured to “play ugly” when Guardiola and Klopp weren’t urged to do so when they were losing.
“Everyone knows Ange’s philosophy,” said Townsend.
“When Pep Guardiola loses a match or when [Jurgen] Klopp lost a match, nobody was saying ‘why don’t you change?’ ‘Why don’t you play five at the back?’ ‘Why don’t you play ugly?’
“He was brought in to bring that attacking football back to Tottenham, what they were renowned for 10, 15, 20 years ago and they’ve lost their way a bit.”
Townsend then urged Tottenham to stick with Postecoglou, saying he feels Spurs are “on the right track”, noting Chelsea did not outclass the Lilywhites at the weekend.
“I don’t think they are far off,” said Townsend. “You don’t watch that game on Sunday and think ‘Chelsea outclassed us, they were miles better than us.’
“I saw for the first 15 minutes Spurs were electric. Chelsea couldn’t play out, Tottenham scored two early goals, and then they allowed them in the game. They got one or two injuries, and it just didn’t go their way.
“I honestly believe they’re on the right track. They should stick with Ange and see where he can take them this season.”
January transfer window crucial for Tottenham
Spurs made a big mistake by not bringing in defensive reinforcements in the summer, as they’re now in a crisis at centre-back.
With that in mind, Levy must back Postecoglou in the January transfer window and enable him to bring in some new recruits at the back.
Admittedly, it won’t be all that easy, as few clubs will want to part company with their key players mid-season, but Spurs need reinforcements to help steady the ship.
There’s no doubt that Tottenham must stick with Postecoglou in the long term, otherwise Spurs will be back to square one and once again showing that no manager can fix them.
The likes of Alasdair Gold and Ramon Vega have both urged Tottenham to stick with Postecoglou too.
