Lucas Bergvall is very frustrated at Tottenham, not just because of game time, but also due to not being played in his best position.

The 20-year-old has now informed Spurs of his desire to leave, and it seems as though the young Swede will be sold this summer.

Tottenham now face a big decision over their very talented star’s future, with Luka Vuskovic also pushing to leave the club.

Having been named Spurs’ Player of the Season the campaign before last, it’s such a shame to see what has happened to the teenager’s development over the last year.

Lucas Bergvall does not think he’ll play as a number eight at Spurs

Lucas Bergvall wants to play as a number eight for Tottenham, but under Roberto De Zerbi, he does not think that will happen, according to David Ornstein.

The 20-year-old is worried he won’t get the chance to figure as a number eight in De Zerbi’s system next season, and this has also been the case in training.

Therefore, along with a lack of minutes, the promising Swede does not feel he will get chances to play in his favoured position.

Speaking on The Athletic’s Podcast, Ornstein revealed: “I would say there’s a very good chance that he could leave Tottenham.

“The reason being that he, despite being young, very talented and under contract at Spurs for some time, hasn’t played nearly enough for his liking.

“But more pertinently than game time, it’s where he’s been playing or not playing, away from the position that he feels he’s at his best, the sort of number eight role centrally.

🤔 How much should Spurs pay to sign Marcus Rashford?

“From what we can see of Roberto de Zerbi’s formation, Lucas Bergvall’s best role in his mind doesn’t really figure in that. And from what I hear, that’s replicated in training as well.”

Not to mention the fact that Tottenham are attempting to sign Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali this summer, meaning his game time could become even more limited.

Chelsea have been keen on Bergvall; however, they seem to be out of the race, with Spurs very unlikely to sell to their London rivals.

Nottingham Forest have been mooted as a potential suitor for the player, although many clubs around Europe are also keen.
