Fabrizio Romano has shared a small update on Randal Kolo Muani and Tottenham Hotspur after the striker was left on the bench over the weekend.

Before Tottenham‘s 3-0 win against West Ham United, Thomas Frank discussed Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons, stating that both attackers were in contention to play at the London Stadium.

However, only Simons got onto the pitch, with Kolo Muani being an unused substitute on the afternoon.

There is nothing for Spurs supporters to worry about, though, and Romano has explained why.

Tottenham have big plans for Randal Kolo Muani

Kolo Muani may not have featured in Tottenham’s win against West Ham, but the Frenchman is still set to have an important role under Frank this season.

When Romano was asked if Spurs still have big plans for Kolo Muani, he answered in his GiveMeSport newsletter: “Yes. They are just building his fitness as he has been out of the PSG squad for a long time.”

The Paris Saint-Germain loanee is a quality forward, but Tottenham did not need him in the end. They were able to get the job done thanks to Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Micky van de Ven, the three goalscorers on the day.

Simons also played his part, setting up Sarr with an excellent corner. In the future, Kolo Muani will be hoping that the Dutchman puts balls into the box for him.

Kolo Muani could have been joined by PSG teammate Senny Mayulu at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tottenham wanted to sign Mayulu in the last transfer window but could not agree anything with the French champions.

Why Randal Kolo Muani still faces a battle to break into Thomas Frank’s starting XI

It is unlikely that Kolo Muani moved to Tottenham without getting any guarantees. After all, he left the Parc des Princes on loan after failing to cement a spot in Luis Enrique’s team.

However, the France international is not going to walk into this Spurs team. Richarlison and Dominic Solanke will provide fierce competition.

In fact, it has already been claimed that Frank wants to make Richarlison central to plans.
