Tottenham Hotspur ended Manchester City’s unbeaten start to the season to reach the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup winning 2-0.

Goals from Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr helped Spurs to secure a major win over Pep Guardiola’s side and set up a last-eight tie at home to Manchester United.

The win was slightly tarnished by the hamstring injury suffered by Micky van de Ven which saw him come off for Destiny Udogie after just 14 minutes.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski once again stole the headlines for his performance against City and the Swede has been discussing plans after defeating the Premier League champions.

Dejan Kulusevski’s warning to Aston Villa

Kulusevski has revealed that Tottenham are not bothered by being the first team to beat Man City this season and the focus is now on winning against Aston Villa.

Spurs have made a sluggish start to the Premier League having lost four of their first nine matches and they will be looking to bounce back from their defeat against Crystal Palace.

The Swede insists the team is now fully focused on facing Villa despite beating City to reach the last eight of the League Cup.

Kulusevski told Sky Sports: “Honestly, it doesn’t matter. We just have to keep going, we have to win every game. You can be happy tonight, but tomorrow we’ve got to keep focused and we have an important game against Villa on Sunday.”

Dejan Kulusevski makes bold claim after beating Man City

Kulusevski claims that he wants to be one of the best players in the world and loves playing against teams like Manchester City where he can prove it.

“I love these games, especially playing against the best teams in the world because that’s where I can show that I want to be one of the best players in the world” Kulusevski added.

“Tonight I just went out and enjoyed, I got a lot of help from the coach and my teammates to play good.”

The 24-year-old is certainly heading in the right direction this season and already establishing himself as one of the best players in the country.
