Tottenham Hotspur’s campaign got off to a frustrating start as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Leicester City.
Despite all of Spurs’ dominance, they failed to capitalise on their large number of chances and were forced to share the spoils with the Foxes.
Just before the hour mark, 37-year-old Jamie Vardy found himself unmarked at the back post to nod home an equaliser and cancel out Pedro Porro’s opener.
Ange Postecoglou now has plenty of work to do if Tottenham hope to make up part of the top four this season. One player who can hold his head up high for his display at the King Power is Porro.
The defender produced an eye-catching stat to show why he is just so highly rated by the North London club’s supporters.

Pedro Porro praised for producing impressive stat
Porro’s goal against Leicester made him the defender with the most direct goal involvements in the Premier League since the start of last season.
The Spaniard now has four goals and seven assists as he highlighted just how much of an attacking threat he can be.
The 24-year-old still has work to do on the defensive side of his game, but going forward, there are not many full-backs better.
During the game in the East Midlands, Spurs fans took to X to share their admiration for the right-back.
Another added: “Pedro Porro goal, as usual, he comes in clutch. Porro should just start playing as a right winger.”
Pedro Porro injury concern
However, despite the strike for the Spaniard – the former Sporting Lisbon star was forced with an ankle injury later on into the second half, which dampened his night a little.
He tried to walk off the pain, however, he was in visible discomfort and after a couple of minutes Postecoglou finally withdrew him.
Porro is now an injury concern ahead of Spurs’ clash with Everton on August 24.
Against Leicester, Djed Spence made his long-awaited return to competitive action for Spurs having spent the last two seasons out on loan.
The 24-year-old may finally be presented with the chance to make his first start for the North London club two years after joining.
Spence’s attitude during pre-season has been much improved and the Australian coach looks set to give his Spurs career a revival.
