Tottenham Hotspur got their Premier League campaign under way with a 1-1 draw at Leicester City on Monday night.
Spurs were absolutely dominant in the first half at the King Power Stadium as Pedro Porro opened his team’s account in the 29th minute.
The Spanish defender made a superb late run as James Maddison curled the ball into the box, and he glanced the ball into the back of the net.
However, for all of Tottenham’s dominance in the first half, they couldn’t pull further ahead and were made to pay for it just before the hour mark.
Leicester’s first shot on target yielded the equaliser as Abdul Fatawu’s cross from the right was headed in by the unmarked Jamie Vardy from five yards out.
The game opened up and both sides had good opportunities to grab a winner, but in the end nothing could separate the two sides in the East Midlands.

Tottenham fans slate Guglielmo Vicario after Lucas Bergvall incident
There were several incidents in the game, with one taking place towards the end that irked a number of Tottenham fans.
Spurs debutant Lucas Bergvall had a solid game for the most part, but late on in the match, he made an error that angered Guglielmo Vicario.
In the 91st minute, the 18-year-old lost the ball in a dangerous position in his defensive third, which in turn forced Vicario into a save.
The Italian goalkeeper was then spotted shouting at Bergvall, and his actions didn’t go down well among some Tottenham fans.
Much to work on
On one hand, Vicario was probably a bit harsh on an 18-year-old debutant who made a slight mistake, and it’s interesting that he didn’t call out Cristian Romero at any point.
At the same time, this is the Premier League, standards are high, and players need to meet them – Vicario could argue that no Spurs player gets a free ride if they’re on the pitch.
Nevertheless, the whole Tottenham team certainly has some improving to do, to avoid getting in situations like the one that saw Bergvall get told off.
Hopefully this will be the case when Spurs face Everton this weekend.
