Tottenham Hotspur have just lost another star player to injury as he joins Micky van de Ven, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert on the sidelines.

Ange Postecoglou’s team haven’t had much fortune with injuries this season having also seen Heung-min Son spend quite some time on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Spurs cannot afford to be losing too many players to injury with so many fixtures coming up, next up is a trip to Galatasaray on Thursday before they host Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

However, they have just lost another key defender leaving the Australian coach’s back-line options looking very thin.

How long will Cristian Romero miss through injury?

Cristian Romero has suffered an injury to the ligaments in his right toe and he will be sidelined for a week to ten days, according to Gaston Edul.

The Argentine picked up the issue when going in for a heavy tackle on Morgan Rogers which saw him awarded a yellow card for the challenge.

Fortunately, scans have revealed no fracture to his toe and his recovery time is a lot better than originally feared. He is now unlikely to be named in the Argentine squad and could remain at Hotspur Way over the international break.

He is also set to miss games against Galatasaray and Ipswich, leaving the North London club with only Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin as their centre-back options.

Dragusin and Davies deserve credit for displays vs Man City and Aston Villa

Having now lost Van de Ven and Romero to injuries, Davies and Dragusin will have to start the next two matches before the November international break.

Losing your two first-choice central defenders is always going to be a major worry, however, Dragusin and Davies have both shown enough quality in wins over Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Davies was particularly impressive against Villa despite only playing 29 minutes as he replaced Romero just past the hour mark and didn’t put a foot wrong. Dragusin started both matches and was excellent.

The duo will need to produce a similar against Galatasaray on Thursday as Postecoglou’s side prepare for a very tricky away game in Turkey.
