Ange Postecoglou has been discussing whether Tottenham Hotspur are likely to have Heung-min Son back ahead of a big week of fixtures.

The North London club take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening and then play Aston Villa in the Premier League on the weekend.

Tottenham struggled to get going in the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and it was clear that they missed their captain in the defeat.

The 32-year-old marked his return from a hamstring injury with a goal in the club’s 4-1 win over West Ham but he was then rested for games against Palace and AZ Alkmaar.

Postecoglou probably can’t afford to rest him again with such big games now upon them and he has hinted at whether Sonny will be fit to play against Man City.

Ange Postecoglou’s Heung-min Son injury update

Postecgolou has suggested that Son will be available for games against Manchester City and Aston Villa over the next few days.

The 59-year-old admitted that Sonny isn’t injured again, he was just missing against AZ and Palace because the club wanted to be cautious with his return.

Speaking after the defeat to Palace, Postecoglou told the media: “It’s not really a hamstring injury, but he was out for a while and wasn’t feeling right after the last game, so we’re just being conservative with him.

The Australian head coach then claimed that he is set to be fit for games against Man City and Aston Villa: “All things being well, he should be alright for next week,” added the Spurs boss.

Pep Guardiola claims Man City are likely to name academy players in their team to face Spurs as his side are struggling with injuries.

How could Tottenham line up against Manchester City?

Son is likely to be named in the team against Manchester City as Postecoglou faces pressure from the supporters to name a strong team.

The winger has a great record against the Premier League champions having won nine of his 19 meetings against them and scoring on nine occasions.

Meanwhile, Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke are all set to be among the names expected to also start.

Tottenham’s predicted line up vs Manchester City: Vicario; Spence, Van de Ven, Dragusin, Porro; Bentancur, Sarr, Kulusevski; Son, Johnson, Solanke.
