Postecoglou believes Tottenham were ‘fair’ to sack Frank; however, the Australian manager believes he was always going to struggle in North London.

Now, the former Spurs boss has been discussing what it is like to manage the club and the impact of losing a player like Kane.

Ange Postecoglou on Tottenham selling Harry Kane

Ange Postecoglou claims that Harry Kane’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur had a big impact on what he was able to achieve at the club.

During his first season in charge, Postecoglou just missed out on the top four, with Aston Villa finishing one point ahead of his team.

The 60-year-old was right up against it from the start at Spurs, having taken over from Antonio Conte’s turbulent spell and the sale of Kane to Bayern Munich.

“He’s an unbelievable player. If I had Harry the last two years, that first year we finished fifth, I’m convinced we would have finished in Champions League spots, you know.”

During the interview, Postecoglou also mentioned that despite only working with him for a few months, Kane was by far the best player he has coached.

“People underestimate the role Harry [Kane] played over the past ten years. I only worked with him for a couple of months, but he is the best player I have witnessed close up in my whole career,” he added.

Ange Postecoglou on failed Tottenham targets

Postecoglou has also slammed Tottenham’s transfer policy, with the club failing to build on his first season of a fifth-place finish and trying to compete for major titles.

Whilst he wanted to sign Premier League-proven players, he was instead given three teenagers in Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert.

Speaking about players he wanted, Postecoglou added: “I was looking at Pedro Neto and Mbeumo and Semenyo at the time, Mark Guehi, because I said we need, if we’re going to go from fifth to there, that’s what the other big clubs would do in that moment.”
