Tottenham Hotspur have made a real name for themselves in recent years when it comes to signing some of the world’s most exciting youngsters.

For instance, Spurs signed Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie as relative unknowns, and now both are established stars at Premier League and international level.

This year, Tottenham brought Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert to N17, and South Korean sensation Yang Min-Hyeok is set to arrive in the coming weeks.

Spurs struck a deal with Gangwon FC for Yang over the summer, paying a reported £3million for the 18-year-old winger.

Yang picked up the K League 1 Young Player of the League award, as well as making the league’s best XI, as he saw the season out with Gangwon.

And on Monday, Tottenham sent Yang a message to welcome him ahead of his arrival at N17 in the New Year.

Now, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has spoken about Yang ahead of the club’s Premier League trip to Bournemouth on Thursday.

Tottenham ‘mindful’ of what to expect from Yang Min-Hyeok for the time being

Postecoglou was asked about Yang at his pre-match press conference, along with Tottenham’s strategy of signing young players and the need for patience.

While responding to the question, the Spurs boss suggested that Yang would be given time to acclimatise rather than being thrown in at the deep end.

“We have gone heavy on the younger ages but that is a deliberate process because we’re at the start of a cycle,” the Spurs boss told football.london.

“If you’re closer to where you want to be and two or three years into it, you’re less likely to because then you are denying them opportunities. What we’re hoping is, we’re bringing them in but they’ll still get opportunities at this point of where we’re at.

“Again, the flip side of that is with Yang, 18-year-old coming from a totally different part of the world, different league and it’s a massive step then say Archie doing it from Championship to Premier League.

“So we have to be mindful of what impact we expect from someone like that.”

The likelihood is that Yang will not be tasked with playing regularly for Spurs right away.

However, it remains to be seen whether he’ll be in the first-team picture or perhaps get loaned out.

Whether Yang has already arrived at Tottenham

Postecoglou was also asked whether Yang had already joined Tottenham, but he said this wasn’t the case.

“No, he hasn’t arrived yet,” he said. “He’ll have some time off. Their league finishes and I haven’t spoken to the guys lately but I know he is keen to get over here and we’ll get him over here.

“I remember with Celtic, we signed a couple of lads from Japan and Korea and middle to late December they joined us and it was good leading into January for those guys.”
