In his latest Premier League Team of the Week, Alan Shearer shone a light on Tottenham after their emphatic win against West Ham on Saturday.

Tottenham secured an impressive 3-0 victory away to London rivals West Ham over the weekend.

It cements a positive start to the 2025/26 season in the Premier League for Spurs, showing huge signs of improvement under Thomas Frank’s management.

Alan Shearer hails Tottenham trio in Premier League Team of the Week

On the Premier League’s official website, Alan Shearer included Spurs stars Micky van de Ven and Lucas Bergvall in his Team of the Week after their respective performances against West Ham, where both were on the scoresheet.

Shearer wrote: “Micky van de Ven (Spurs) – Made three or four good tackles in the first half and capped an imposing Tottenham Hotspur display by scoring their third goal.”

He then said: “Lucas Bergvall (Spurs) – Showed unbelievable technique with a header to put Spurs 2-0 up and then set up Van de Ven for their third to seal a derby win at West Ham.”

On top of that, Shearer also included Spurs boss Frank as his standout manager from the latest round of Premier League games.

He wrote: “Manager: Thomas Frank (Spurs) – Spurs look a totally different side to the one that lost 22 times last season. Three clean sheets and three wins in their first four matches is an impressive start for head coach Frank.”

Frank’s record against West Ham is strong, so perhaps it’s no major surprise that Spurs won at the weekend. However, he’s shocked plenty of people with how quickly he’s settled at his new home after arriving from Brentford in the summer.

The fitness of Micky van de Ven is pivotal for Tottenham

If Spurs can keep Van de Ven fit and available, they should be optimistic of enjoying a very strong season.

The 24-year-old Dutchman is a complete defender who can do a bit of everything on the football pitch. It feels like his biggest obstacle is staying fit, which is why it’s very encouraging to see the way he’s started the campaign.

The left-footed centre-half has started every match so far under Spurs, becoming an immediate key figure under Frank. There will come a time when the manager needs to rotate his backline, though.
