Tottenham ran out very comfortable winners against West Ham in their London derby on Saturday, however James Maddison was not best pleased with the refereeing on show.
Spurs ended up scoring all three goals in the second half to rout West Ham 3-0, with their opponents going down to 10 men to add to their own mounting problems.
Pape Matar Sarr opened the scoring for them in the second half, converting Xavi Simons’ corner as the new signing recorded his first assist for the club.
Goals from Lucas Bergvall and Micky van de Ven saw it become a very comfortable afternoon, however there was frustration in the first half that they hadn’t already broken the deadlock.

James Maddison fumes at refereeing during Tottenham vs West Ham
Cristian Romero thought he had given Spurs the lead when he headed home from close range, however he saw the goal disallowed.
It emerged that the whistle had gone due to a foul from Van de Ven in the build up, a decision which looked very soft looking back.
Maddison was left stunned by the decision, and stated that Premier League refereeing has been very poor in the first few weeks of the campaign.
He said: “Honestly the referees & VAR have had an absolute shocker of a start to the season. If that goal is disallowed for a foul you will never ever see a corner be taken without referee blowing for something ever again.”
Thankfully the decision did not have a big impact on the end result, and a very successful outing for Thomas Frank did not have any of the shine taken off it.

Spurs enjoy perfect warm-up for Champions League return
With Champions League football returning in three days’ time to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the boss will feel confident with what he has just seen ahead of Villarreal’s visit to North London.
Frank was able to take off the likes of Van de Ven and Simons when the job was done in the second half against West Ham, with them surely both set to start against the La Liga side.
Maddison unfortunately will be forced to watch from home as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury suffered in pre-season.
He recently shared an emotional update on his road to recovery, with plenty of medical equipment attached to his knee, sporting a scar from the surgery.
