Tottenham Hotspur youngster Alfie Dorrington has returned to first-team training following an injury issue.

The 18-year-old centre-back has been absent from action recently due to a hamstring issue he picked up earlier in the year.

But it seems Ange Postecoglou is keen to have him around the first-team, despite him being such a big player for the U21s.

Alfie Dorrington in first-team training

Tottenham’s final game before the international break will see them make the short trip across London to Fulham.

And it seems the Australian is getting a lot of his injured players back from injury ahead of the Premier League run in.

One player who has been seen in training at Hotspur Way is the 18-year-old defender who’s not played in well over a month.

Speaking on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, journalist Rob Guest has claimed the centre-back’s returned straight to Postecoglou’s training sessions.

He said: “Alfie Dorrington is back. He pulled up with a hamstring injury in an U21s match towards the end of January. He’s been a regular in first team training at Hotspur Way this season and also in the match day squad from November onwards because of all the injuries at the back.”

Tottenham’s injury latest

Ahead of the game against Fulham, Tottenham are going into the game with one major injury blow.

Postecoglou has already claimed Micky van de Ven will be missing after picking up another hamstring issue in the game against Aston Villa.

However, the Australian has suggested it is not as serious as first feared.

And then there is Tottenham’s Brazilian striker, Richarlison, who has missed the last two games.

The 26-year-old has recently been spotted in training ahead of the trip to Craven Cottage which may be a sign he’s back in the fold.

But it is interesting to see Dorrington return from injury straight back to first-team training.

The 18-year-old has been included in Postecoglou’s match day squad a number of times this season, but is yet to feature off the bench.

Postecoglou has also hailed Dorrington as one of the stand-out youngsters from the U21s side.

He is clearly a player the 58-year-old loves, but it will be interesting to see whether he can work himself an opportunity any time soon.
