Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on Micky van de Ven’s injury.

The Dutchman was withdrawn from the game against Aston Villa on Sunday with a suspected hamstring injury.

Spurs return to action on the weekend before an international provides an additional couple of weeks until their next game.

Micky van de Ven injury news

Speaking to Sky Sports on Wednesday, Ange Postecoglou has admitted Micky Van de Ven is unlikely to feature against Fulham on Saturday.

However, the Australian admitted he is hoping the 22-year-old will not miss much more action with the international break coming up.

Speaking from Hotspur Way, Postecoglou said: “We’re still kind of getting all the information in. Look, he’s unlikely for this weekend. We don’t think it’s anything major. We’ll probably get some more information at the back end of the week; so unlikely for obviously Fulham.

“But with the international break, hopefully it means he doesn’t miss too much after that.”

The Spurs boss was unable to provide a full explanation on the injury with the club said to still be assessing the player.

But it certainly sounds better than the hamstring injury he sustained back in November against Chelsea.

Radu Dragusin to start vs Fulham

When Van de Ven sustained his significant injury last year, it left Postecoglou with some real decisions to make at centre-back.

Left-back Ben Davies came in for the defender as Postecoglou showed little faith in Eric Dier.

However, it is a completely different story this time around. The January signing of Radu Dragusin has eased the minds of Spurs fans after seeing Van de Ven go down injured.

Sunday was the first time the Romanian played significant minutes for Spurs and he looked a natural fit.

Playing alongside Cristian Romero, the 22-year-old helped Spurs keep their first clean sheet in a seriously long time in the Premier League.

With this in mind, it is almost a no-brainer that he will be starting for the first time at Craven Cottage.

His own mother has asked for patience when he was not getting minutes at Spurs, but it seems his opportunity is about to be handed to him on Saturday.
