Tottenham Hotspur have lost to Ipswich Town in the Premier League, in what was a day to forget for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Two first-half goals from the Tractor Boys ultimately were enough to beat a lethargic Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There were some poor performances for Spurs players vs Ipswich. Radu Dragusin frustrated Tottenham fans and Heung-min Son had a quiet day.

However, one man that stood out was Dominic Solanke, who was a bright spark in the Tottenham side.

Saying this, Solanke did miss essentially an open net and had a goal disallowed, in quite controversial fashion.

Why Dominic Solanke’s goal against Ipswich was disallowed

Solanke put the ball in the back of the net just before the 50-minute mark, but unfortunately for the forward, he had it ruled out.

The reason for this was seemingly a handball, with the Premier League Match Centre confirming this, with the following statement.

They wrote: ‘Solanke’s goal was awarded on-field. The VAR deemed that Solanke accidentally handled the ball immediately before the goal and recommended that the goal be disallowed.’

It was a bold call, and may not have necessarily been the correct one.

Tottenham fans react to Dominic Solanke’s disallowed goal

It was a little bit harsh, as Spurs fans noted after the incident occurred.

One annoyed Spurs supporter said: ‘Ludicrous that Solanke’s goal was disallowed.’

Another puts: ‘How is Solanke’s goal cancelled? That wasn’t in any way handled, he literally played a shot at goal which deflected off his hand.’

Supporters also made the claim that if this handball disallowed the goal, then Tottenham should’ve definitely had a penalty moments later

‘Epl’s officiating is becoming very bad every day, cause tell me why Solanke’s goal was disallowed, and that handball isn’t a penalty for Spurs,’ another adds.

Another adds: ‘Solanke’s goal disallowed but if a defender makes the same handball, it doesn’t get penalised.’

A frustrating day for Spurs, but now they must bounce back. Tottenham face an extremely tough trip to the Etihad next Saturday. A big turnaround is needed.
