Tottenham player ratings vs Ipswich Town, Solanke a bright spot but Spurs defender earns ‘shocking’ 4/10 rating

Spurs have been beaten 2-1 by Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

In what can only be described as an extremely frustrating afternoon, Spurs continued their recent trend of conceding first and would go into the half-time break two behind on the scoresheet.

Ange Postecoglou’s side would get themselves back into the game in the second half through Rodrigo Bentancur but the Tractor Boys would hold on to earn their first win of the season.-

It is ultimately a result that the Tottenham fans will soon want to forget, but it is still worth reflecting on how the Spurs squad performed in our player ratings

Guglielmo Vicario – 5

Couldn’t really do much for either of Ipswich’s goals. He did however look shaky on set pieces once again.

Pedro Porro – 4

Poor display from the Spaniard. His static defending led to Ipswich’s opener with neither him nor Johnson deciding to clear the ball, before Szmodics’ overhead kick.

Cristian Romero – 5

Like much of the Spurs backline, Romero seemed slightly shaky throughout. The Argentinian seems to be missing his regular centre-back partner Micky van de Ven.

Radu Dragusin – 4

Another very tough afternoon from the Romanian. He failed to clear the ball for Ipswich’s second, with Delap latching onto his failed clearance. Dragusin’s direct comparisons to Van de Ven do him no favours at all.

Destiny Udogie – 5

Like many of Tottenham’s team, Udogie flattered to deceive. The Italian struggled to deal with the likes of Omari Hutchinson.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 5

Despite scoring a header to get Spurs back into the game, the Uruguayan was way below his normally high standards. The midfielder let his frustrations get the better of him, giving away a number of silly fouls which eased the pressure on Ipswich.

Pape Matar Sarr – 5

Sarr was his typical energetic self but he failed to provide Spurs with the cutting edge needed in the final third.

Dejan Kulusevski – 5

Kulusevski ultimately failed to have the impact he’s had in recent previous games. The Swede seemed slightly off the pace compared to the past few weeks, which could be a sign of growing fatigue.

Brennan Johnson – 5

Johnson had his moments but the Welshman ultimately couldn’t find the cutting edge needed, with a number of his crosses failing to find the desired target.

Dominic Solanke – 7

The Englishman was one of very few Spurs players who looked sharp, having a goal chalked off for handball early in the second half. He pressed and harried the Ipswich backline all afternoon and was unlucky to not get himself on the score sheet.

Heung-min Son – 5

The Spurs skipper had some bright moments early on but his impact would soon fade away. A number of wayward long shots perfectly summed up Tottenham’s frustrating afternoon.

Yves Bissouma – 5

James Maddison – 5

Timo Werner – 5
