Tottenham Hotspur have once again gone from dizzying heights to disappointing lows as they shipped a late goal against Roma to draw 2-2 in their Europa League encounter on Thursday.

Spurs, fresh off a 4-0 victory at Manchester City, were in a great position to triumph against the Serie A outfit at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Son Heung-min’s fifth-minute penalty gave Tottenham the lead before Evan Ndicka equalised for Roma midway through the first half.

Spurs then retook the lead on 33 minutes as Dejan Kulusevski crossed for Brennan Johnson to score a goal that reminded some Tottenham fans of Raheem Sterling.

However, Ange Postecoglou’s charges conceded a soft stoppage-time goal when the unmarked Mats Hummels poked home from point-blank range.

It was a mixed bag as far as individual Tottenham player performances went, with some impressing more than others.

One of Spurs’ defenders came under criticism from several media outlets in their post-match ratings pieces.

Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin criticised for Roma display

The player in question is Radu Dragusin, who was impressive against Man City but once again struggled in a Europa League encounter

Football.london’s Alasdair Gold awarded the £25million man a 6 out of 10 for how he played against Roma.

He wrote: ‘Defended solidly on the whole but the defence will be disappointed at the chances they conceded.’

Meanwhile, Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard gave Dragusin a 5 out of 10 for his efforts on the night.

He wrote: ‘Another jittery display in this competition against an attacking Roma side.

‘Did help Spurs hold a disciplined defensive line, which meant Roma repeatedly fell foul of the offside trap.’

And The Express also went with a 5 out of 10 rating for the 23-year-old’s performance.

‘Looked unconvincing at the heart of the backline and gave away a needless free-kick for Roma’s opening goal of the night,’ they wrote.

‘Postecoglou will be desperate to have Cristian Romero available again.’

Dragusin stats v Roma

Dragusin chipped in with four clearances and blocked one shot, but he didn’t win any duels on the night, lost possession four times and made one foul.

Sofascore gave him a rating of 6.4 out of 10, the lowest in the Spurs back line. Archie Gray got a 7.2, Ben Davies received a 7.1, and Pedro Porro got a 7.4.
