Tottenham player ratings vs Manchester United
Gugliemo Vicario – 7
Barring some smart saves in the first-half, the Italian did not have to do much with ultimately United failing to test the Spurs keeper.
Pedro Porro – 7
Porro is sometimes criticised for his defensive attributes but the Spaniard was solid all game, with both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho failing to get the better of the Spurs man.
Cristian Romero – 7
After a rough start to the season for the Argentinian, Romero was undoubtedly back to his best this evening keeping the United forwards quiet all afternoon.
Micky van de Ven – 9
Wow. Just wow. That is all you can say about that assist. Gary Neville labelled Van de Ven’s assist as “one of the best” he has seen from a centre-back and you would have to agree.
Assists aside, the Dutchman was brilliant. His importance in the Spurs backline is unprecedented.
Destiny Udogie – 7
A solid display from the Italian. He, like Porro, kept the United forwards quiet all afternoon, which is ultimately the best compliment you can give the Tottenham man.
Rodrigo Bentancur – 8
Bentancur provided a momentous performance at the base of the Tottenham midfield. Breaking up play as well as starting attacks, the Uruagyan was superb all game. A huge performance.
James Maddison – 8
An expert performance from Maddison. The former Leicester man looks at home in his new deeper role with Man United failing to deal with the England international’s clever movement. United’s frustrations were shown when Bruno Fernandes chopped Maddison down before the half-time break.
Dejan Kulusevski – 9
Kulusevski was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch today, with the Spurs man running the United midfield ragged all afternoon. The Tottenham’s man standout performance was perfectly capped off by his goal after half-time.
Simply outstanding from the Swede.
Brennan Johnson – 9
A goal and an assist for the Welshman, Johnson is well and truly silencing the doubters in recent games. The Tottenham winger was a constant thorn in the United backline, giving Diego Dalot nightmares all game.
Dominic Solanke – 8
The £65m man provided yet another impressive display this afternoon. His hold-up play and pressing was immense, but the former Bournemouth striker also provided the goal when Spurs needed it most – tapping home the third in expert poacher fashion.
Timo Werner – 7
An impressive performance from the Leipzig loanee but it was a performance that could have been so much better if he had his shooting boots on. The German had two one-on-one opportunities but failed to convert on both occasions.
Subs:
Djed Spence – 7
Mikey Moore – 6
Pape Matar Sarr – 6
Lucas Bergvall – 6
Radu Dragusin – 6
