Tottenham Hotspur roared back to beat Aston Villa 4-1 on Sunday afternoon, creating quite the atmosphere as Ange Postecoglou’s men came from behind to win.

Tottenham Hotspur fell behind in the first half as set-piece issues popped up once again.

Guglielmo Vicario left Spurs fans worried as he couldn’t deal with a corner yet again and Morgan Rogers was on hand to score from close range.

Tottenham had to respond in the second half and quickly found a leveller with Brennan Johnson scoring from close range.

Dominic Solanke was praised as ‘unbelievable’ by Ange Postecoglou having turned the game in Tottenham’s favour, scoring twice to put Spurs 3-1 up.

Solanke matched Rafael van der Vaart’s record in the process, scoring four times in his first eight Premier League games for Spurs.

James Maddison rattled home a free kick late on to put the cap on a superb 4-1 victory over a direct rival for a top four place.

Aston Villa star on Tottenham Hotspur atmosphere

Tottenham hammered Villa away from home in March and repeated the trick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Villa seemed so composed before Tottenham drew level and ended up completely collapsing in the second half.

Tottenham fans really amped up the noise and roared Ange Postecoglou’s side onto victory after the break.

Even Villa players noted that atmosphere change and midfielder John McGinn highlighted the sheer noise in North London.

McGinn told Sky Sports that Tottenham fans made it ‘loud’ after finding the equaliser, claiming that the noise was like nothing he has ever experienced at Tottenham in the past.

McGinn added that Tottenham just had too much speed and momentum, leading to a second half battering for Villa.

“We’ve got to keep our heads a wee bit in there and have a bit of perspective, realise the progress we’ve made as a team and the start of the season we’ve had,” said McGinn.

“Many teams will come here and suffer that defeat – definitely. We had a good first half. Every time we’ve won here, we’ve suffered heavily for 90 minutes. We thought… usually in the second half, a little bit of space opens up. It does, but it opens up for both teams.

“It was an amazing from Son, 1-1, and then this place got loud. Probably as loud as I’ve heard it as an away player. From there, the momentum, their speed, they deserved to win,” he added.

Tottenham must build from here

Last week, Tottenham fans will have felt pretty low.

Defeat at a struggling Crystal Palace left Tottenham fans concerned but Spurs have reacted in style.

Tottenham beat Manchester City in the EFL Cup in midweek before then hammering Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Those are two big wins and Tottenham must now make sure that this week isn’t just a flash in the pan, and follow that up with more positive results.

Tottenham head to Galatasaray in the Europa League on Thursday before hosting Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

Spurs fans will want positive results in those games in order to head into the international break on a really strong note.

Sunday’s display showed what Tottenham are capable of and we would hope to see more of that going forward – starting with Thursday’s trip to Turkiye.
