Alasdair Gold says Tottenham star had ‘one of his most disappointing performances’ for Spurs in Bournemouth loss

This season, Tottenham Hotspur have made quite a habit of raising expectations, only to cruelly dash them.

Tottenham thrashed Manchester United on the road, only to lose to Brighton & Hove Albion in their next Premier League game.

Later on, Spurs knocked Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup and hammered Aston Villa, only to lose to Galatasaray and Ipswich Town.

And then, Tottenham destroyed Man City on their own patch, only to then draw their next two and then meekly lose at Bournemouth.

Dean Huijsen’s goal proved the difference between the two sides, though the Cherries could have easily done much more damage to Spurs.

Few Tottenham players could hold their heads high come full time, and even one of their stars of the season flattered to deceive.

Dejan Kulusevski struggles for Tottenham at Bournemouth

The player in question is Dejan Kulusevski, who delivered “one of his most disappointing performances” for Tottenham, according to Alasdair Gold.

‘Back in the team and had the first shot of the match with an effort into Kepa’s arms,’ Gold wrote in football.london as he gave him a 4 out of 10. ‘One of his most disappointing performances.’

Meanwhile, Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard gave Kulusevski a 5 out of 10 and wrote: ‘Got into some good positions but was missing a finish or final ball. Worked tirelessly, as usual.’

Finally, The Express were relatively kind on Kulusevski, giving him a 6 out of 10, though they admitted he was below his best.

They wrote: ‘The liveliest of the attackers who started for Tottenham, but even the usually devastating Swede struggled to make an impact.’

Tottenham disappointing once again as some fans running out of patience

Kulusevski has been by far the best player for Tottenham this season, with Postecoglou transforming him from a decent winger to a superb midfielder.

All players will have the occasional off-day, and this was certainly the case for the Sweden international as he failed to have much of an impact for Spurs on the south coast.

However, it’s not as though Kulusevski was an outlier. Tottenham really struggled on the day, and sadly this kind of performance and result is becoming all too commonplace.

In addition, Spurs were forced to play Archie Gray at centre-back after Ben Davies went off with an injury, testament to the lack of foresight from the club in the summer.

Some Tottenham fans are starting to run out of patience, with Postecoglou getting booed as he went over to the away end to apologise to them for the team’s display.

As Glenn Hoddle has said, there’s a lot of work for Spurs to do.
