Glenn Hoddle and Les Ferdinand make their feelings clear on Tottenham after Bournemouth loss

Tottenham Hotspur fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Bournemouth as the Cherries claimed yet another big Premier League scalp at the Vitality Stadium this season.

Andoni Iraola’s charges, who have already beaten Manchester City and Arsenal this term, added Spurs to their list thanks to Dean Huijsen’s 17th-minute goal.

It could have been worse for Tottenham as Evanilson saw a second-half goal ruled out for offside, while a late penalty call for the hosts was waved away.

The travelling Spurs fans made their feelings known to Ange Postecoglou at the end of the game.

Likewise, Tottenham heroes Glenn Hoddle and Les Ferdinand were not impressed by what Spurs served up on the south coast.

Glenn Hoddle says ‘there’s so much work to do for Tottenham’

Hoddle, speaking on Premier League Productions, admitted that Tottenham have a lot of work to do.

“You expected Spurs to be pinning Bournemouth back in the second half, but in fact it was the other way round,” he said.

“They weren’t hanging on. Bournemouth deservedly won 1-0 but it could have been more, they created so many chances and Fraser Forster made three or four world-class saves.

“There’s so much work to do for Tottenham.”

Les Ferdinand says Tottenham had ‘no urgency, no physicality’

Meanwhile, Ferdinand told Amazon Prime that Tottenham lacked urgency and physicality, and felt sorry for the fans as the ‘bad’ Spurs turned up.

“Every time Bournemouth went forward, they looked like scoring,” Ferdinand said on Amazon Prime, via the BBC Sport website. “Tottenham didn’t.

“There was no urgency, no physicality, didn’t win any 50-50 tackles. We didn’t know what Spurs would turn up and it wasn’t this one the fans wanted.”

Dismal night all round for Tottenham

Not only were Tottenham poor against Bournemouth, but they also found themselves down another centre-back.

Ben Davies came off with an apparent hamstring injury, forcing Archie Gray to move across to centre-back, much to the chagrin of Spurs fans.

Tottenham are now without Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and now Davies, and may have to face Chelsea this weekend with Dragusin and Gray at centre-back.

Spurs’ decision not to sign a new centre-back in the summer has come back to haunt them big time.
