Tottenham’s academy has helped to produce some outstanding footballers over the years. The early signs are that Luca Williams-Barnett may be another rising star emerging at Hotspur Way.
It is very exciting to see so many young prospects shining in the Tottenham academy, with plenty impressing for Wayne Burnett’s Under-21s side.
Luca Williams-Barnett, who is still only 16 years old, has been catching the eye at youth level. The attacking midfielder has become an important player for the Spurs U21s in the opening weeks of this season and also starred for England’s U17s national team.
Last season, Williams-Barnett featured in Ange Postecoglou’s first-team squad on the bench for several matches, including a few games in the Europa League. The English talent is still waiting to make his senior debut, though. Let’s wait and see if he can grab the attention of Thomas Frank in the upcoming weeks.

Luca Williams-Barnett nets Tottenham hat-trick
On Friday night, the Spurs U21s thrashed Leicester U21s 6-3 away from home in a thrilling Premier League 2 fixture.
Williams-Barnett was the star of the show for the visitors with his hat-trick inside the first half.
It underlines an outrageous start to the new season for him. In six U21s appearances across all competitions this campaign, Williams-Barnett has now scored six goals and provided four assists.
Thomas Frank’s verdict on the number 10 role is that Xavi Simons and Lucas Bergvall will be competing for the chief playmaker position in the first-team squad this season. However, we shouldn’t rule out Williams-Barnett making a senior breakthrough at some stage further down the line.
