Tottenham Hotspur are now hoping to tie up a deal for one of their summer targets before pre-season starts.
There is still an awful lot to play for this season for Tottenham with Champions League qualification the top prize.
Ange Postecoglou has played down the importance of playing in the elite European competition next term.
However, it is apparent that message is not shared with some of his players after James Maddison shared his own views on the subject.
With a season in some form of European football almost guaranteed now at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, there will be plans in place for the summer transfer window.
And it seems there is already one player who Postecoglou feels could add a lot to his side if he is to be brought in over the coming months.

Tottenham want 24-year-old signed up sharply this summer
Having appointed Postecoglou on the back of a season to forget under Antonio Conte, Daniel Levy has actually done well to provide a fair few new signings.
A new look Spurs is being led by the signing of players like Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario who have demonstrated a much improved recruitment system at Hotspur Way.
However, this does not mean Spurs are not going to add to their squad this summer.
The Spurs News understands the club are already weighing up a number of options to bolster their midfield.
Spurs are expected to lose Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer with the Dane having already been offered to AC Milan.
And now it seems interest in Conor Gallagher remains as The Sun have provided an update on Tottenham’s pursuit of the midfielder, this morning.
According to journalist Tom Barclay, Spurs want to wrap up a deal for the 24-year-old Chelsea midfielder quickly in the summer.
It is claimed Postecoglou views Gallagher as a great option who would fit his system perfectly as Spurs aim to be playing Champions League football.
Chelsea are looking for around £40m for their homegrown talent with just one-year left on his current deal.
What Mauricio Pochettino said
Much like Yves Bissouma, Gallagher can play across a number of positions in the midfield and the Mali man may be at most risk of losing his spot in Postecoglou’s side.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has labelled Gallagher as “priceless” in a recent press conference as his contract situation rumbles on.
And this is how Gallagher’s season has compared to Bissouma.
| 2023/24 | Yves Bissouma | Conor Gallagher |
| Goals | 0 | 3 |
| Assists | 0 | 6 |
| Tackles (per 90) | 3.54 | 2.6 |
| Shot-creating actions (per 90) | 1.89 | 3.27 |
| Pass accuracy | 92.1% | 88.7% |

Gallagher may certainly offer more in attack than Bissouma has, but would the 24-year-old solve Tottenham’s need for a number six?
