Manchester United have been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro with Ruben Amorim reportedly keen to work with him again.

Amorim was Porro’s manager during their time together at Sporting Lisbon before the club sold the Spaniard to Tottenham for £45M. A report from Diario AS claimed that Man United wanted to bring him to Old Trafford next summer.

Other claims from DiarioSPORT suggested that the 24-year-old had decided that it is now time to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and he was keen to move to a bigger club. To find out the truth about Porro’s future, The Spurs News exclusively spoke to transfer insider Graeme Bailey of TBR Football.

Do Manchester United really want Pedro Porro?

Pedro Porro to Manchester United has been shot down by Graeme Bailey who claims that Ruben Amorim will not dictate the club’s squad build. The United boss may suggest players but his role as Head Coach will not allow him to demand players from the board and Dan Ashworth.

Bailey told The Spurs News: “No, he won’t go to Manchester United. Ruben Amorim is Head Coach at Man United, he’s not dictating the building of the squad, he won’t be demanding any players from Dan Ashworth. Head Coaches work very differently, Amorim is not in there talking about specific players.

“Porro would suit the way they play to a certain degree, but it’s a proper 3-4-3 and they want wingers to play those wide roles. Porro won’t join United.”

Pedro Porro wants Real Madrid but is not pushing to leave Tottenham

The Spurs News has also been told that Pedro Porro wants to join Real Madrid and Tottenham are aware of Los Blancos’ interest, however, he is not their priority for the right-back position.

“Obviously Real Madrid is a different kettle of fish, he would like to go to Real Madrid, as do most players in world football. Spurs are aware that Porro is on Madrid’s list, he’s not at the top of it with Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and [Jeremie] Frimpong, but they do like him.

When discussing whether Spurs would sell him, Bailey added: “The costs would be tricky he would cost a fair amount but every player at Spurs has a price.” The Spurs News previously reported that Tottenham could sell Porro for the right price which may be a world record fee for a defender, currently standing at £77 million paid by Man City for Josko Gvardiol.
