Tottenham Hotspur would expect to receive a British transfer record in order to sell Micky van de Ven anytime soon.
Alexander Isak is the current most expensive British transfer, having signed for Liverpool last summer from Newcastle United in a deal worth £125m.
Fill in the blank: Micky van de Ven is worth £__m in this current market?
Spurs would now command a similar fee for their Dutch defender were clubs to come in for him, and he were to push for a move.
Liverpool have been linked with Van de Ven, and could be one of the frontrunners to sign him if he were to become available.
Tottenham want record fee for Micky van de Ven
Right now, Tottenham Hotspur are remaining calm over Micky van de Ven’s situation and would demand an astronomical sum to even consider selling him, according to Ben Jacobs.
Spurs do not want to lose the defender at all, but the journalist claims that Van de Ven is ‘in no rush’ to sign an extended deal in North London.
Jacobs told Last Word On Spurs: “Micky van de Ven is going nowhere, and Tottenham have a valuation on him at British transfer record levels.
“So were he to depart Tottenham, regardless of his contract ticking down, Spurs would be expecting a British transfer record.
“The contract of Micky van de Ven at the moment expires in 2028. As he heads into the final two years, that number will seem higher and higher compared to the time remaining on the contract.
Fill in the blank: If I were Micky van de Ven, I would _______________ a new Tottenham contract…
“But that is Tottenham’s valuation, and I don’t expect that to change in the final 11 days of the window, and it may well not change in the summer either. So Spurs are really calm about the situation.”
The 24-year-old’s current deal is believed to be until 2028, rather than 2029 as reported elsewhere, meaning the Lilywhites will need to make a decision soon.
When asked about the current length of his deal, Jacobs clarified: “I spoke to people close to the player’s camp. The summer of 2028 is when I’m told the deal ends. Of course, there can be club options.
“Of course, it can therefore be built as the extra year. But I’m told 2028 is the juncture. In summer, there’ll be two, not three years left on his deal.”
Luka Vuskovic could replace Micky van de Ven at Tottenham
Tottenham looked well-equipped for Van de Ven’s potential departure, as Luka Vuskovic is due to arrive in North London next summer.
Vuskovic has been really impressive on loan at Hamburg this season in the Bundesliga, and looks to be one of Europe’s top young talents.
Despite the 18-year-old looking very strong during pre-season, Spurs opted to send him on loan to Germany, but given his progress, that looks to have been a great decision.
