One of Tottenham Hotspur’s big young talents has just decided his future ahead of the January transfer window amid his limited game time.

Ange Postecoglou has been carefully managing the minutes of his squad across each competition this season having fielded heavily rotated teams in the cup competitions.

Tottenham now effectively have two different teams, one for midweek cup matches and another for league fixtures, resulting in some players not seeing many Premier League minutes.

One of those players has understandably become a bit frustrated by this situation, although he has already decided on his future in North London just before the winter window opens.

Archie Gray does not want to leave Tottenham in January

Archie Gray has no interest in leaving Tottenham in January despite his lack of game time, according to GiveMeSport. The midfielder wants to continue immersing himself in life at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and fight for his place in Postecoglou’s team.

The former Leeds United star has played just 41 minutes in the Premier League this season and when he has played, he’s been used at full-back. Given he’s still only 18, the North London club won’t be too concerned by his lack of game time, but right now, he’s had very few chances to develop as a midfielder.

Gray has attracted interest from Sevilla on loan and there is likely to be a queue of clubs from the Premier League and Championship eager to take him for the rest of the season. But the North London club can’t afford to let him leave given how limited their squad already is and how many fixtures they have coming up.

Will Archie Gray’s minutes at Tottenham increase?

Gray will have to remain patient in waiting for game time in the Premier League as right now, he is stuck in a tricky situation.

His only chances to impress are coming in the Europa League where he is playing in a heavily rotated Tottenham team and being used out of position. So this is making it very tricky for him to show that he deserves the chance to be starting ahead of Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur.

It’s clear that the 18-year-old’s best position is not at full-back, but he has shown enough quality to start earning some chances in midfield. However, given Postecoglou’s limited options at full-back, that is unlikely to happen any time soon.
