Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a £30 million bid to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes.
That’s according to Gavea News, which claims that Spurs are ready to make a ‘substantial proposal’ for the Portuguese midfielder.
Spurs have got the majority of their business done inside the opening two weeks of the January window.
Tottenham moved to snap up Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin last week, with both players making their debuts in the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford. But Ange Postecoglou remains keen on bringing in a new midfielder and Conor Gallagher has been heavily linked.
While Gallagher is widely recognised as Spurs’ top midfield target, the chances of luring him to North London seem slim.
And a fresh report claims Tottenham are eyeing Joao Gomes as a possible Gallagher alternative.

Tottenham ready to launch £30 million bid to sign Gomes
Gavea News reports that Spurs are weighing up a £30 million move for Wolves midfielder Gomes.
It’s noted that Tottenham are keen to bring in a defensive midfielder for Postecoglou, mainly due to the absences of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, who are both currently at AFCON 2024.
Tottenham may be forced to look at other options in the event that a deal for Gallagher simply isn’t doable this month.
The 23-year-old has starred for Chelsea this term, registering four assists in 20 Premier League appearances.

It makes sense for Spurs to consider their options and they have already been linked with a move for Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips. But interest in Gomes could be one to keep an eye on over the coming days.
The 22-year-old made the switch to Wolves from Brazilian outfit Flamengo back in January and has already established himself as a key player at Molineux.
The Brazilian has racked up 20 appearances under Gary O’Neil this term and has been a standout performer.
O’Neil has lauded Gomes as an ‘incredible’ talent and it’s no real surprise to hear that he’s caught the eye of Spurs.
But you’d imagine that Tottenham would have to pay big money to land the midfielder after Wolves snapped him up just a year ago.
At this point, it feels more likely that Postecoglou will be forced to wait for midfield reinforcements over the summer, especially if Spurs are unable to land one of their top targets this month.
